Exclusively Kristen shirts are specifically made for women with large breasts and in my previous blog post, I outlined the details that make our shirts perfect for busty women. However, this blog post will be helpful to those who haven't had the chance to try our shirts (you should!), but instead must shop at non specialty stores that do not offer clothing for this underserved market of chesty women.
Before I founded Exclusively Kristen: Chic Fashions for Larger Bosoms, I had a keen eye for garments that had proportions to complement my figure. Shopping was always a headache-I had to buy a size larger in pants to fit my hips and thighs, but the waist was too big, so I'd have to wear a belt or take it to a tailor. Shirts...well, you know #bigboobproblems. So shopping for me was a two fold nightmare and in the rare occurrence where I did find garments that fit relatively well, they tended to have these traits:
Dresses or shirts with a belt
When you are top heavy, shirts get pushed out by your boobs a few inches more than usual so the stomach area is also pushed out giving the illusion of pregnancy, which isn't optimal, especially if you are not pregnant. A belt will cinch the waist for a more hourglass and flat stomach look.
Princess seams
Vertical princess seams around the bust give the illusion of curvature and proper fit, even if the garment is not made for D+ cup women. Pair with a belt for a near perfect fit (see photo).
Loose shirts with a cinched elastic waists
I spent some time in Colombia, South America and was astounded that so many shirts fit me well, which makes sense because women with large breasts, butts, and hips are usually seen as the most desirable in Latin America. So Latin fashion designers tend to cater to that market of women. I went to town shopping in Colombia but didn't have to spend a lot of money because the currency exchange rate was in my favor. I brought back so many clothes and artisanal accessories that I got held up at customs. When a male U.S. customs officer inquired as to why I had so much stuff, I responded, "I'm a woman. I gotta look good!" Anyway, I bought a lot of shirts that were loose fitting in the chest area but had a waist that was cinched with elastic, which accentuates curves and has ample room for a larger bosom. Unfortunately, I haven't seen many shirts made like that in the USA...which means that Exclusively Kristen will manufacture some in the near future.
