The One and Only Black Button-Down Shirt

A black button-down made for a fuller bust. Unlike a typical button-down, it has extra room in the bust, so there is no pulling.

It is made from 100% cotton and tailored with precisely spaced buttons and side slits that make room for fuller hips. Wear it on its own or under a blazer for work, or with blue jeans for casual Fridays and weekends. It irons easily on a low to medium setting.

Size and fit:

  • Sleeve length: 23" from the shoulder (size 8).
  • Our founder Kristen is 5'6" (168 cm) with a 42" bust, 34.5" waist and 45" hips (UK 32HH). She is wearing a size 14 in these photos.

Perfect for my size

I see that this blouse is controversial, but it fits me perfectly. I have a 41" bust and my waist is 31", so the size 8 was what I needed.

Not for heavy women.

Shirt was too tight in every way except the chest. Return process is somewhat antiquated (no online return process). Disappointed, but if I were about 40 lbs lighter, I would love the shirt for bigger chests. This isn't cut to flatter heavier figures, just bigger boobs.

Will it gap at the bust?

The One and Only is designed to reduce gaping when sized by bust and waist. It is cut with extra room through the bust and precisely spaced buttons, so the front lies flat. The shirt has no stretch and runs small, so a size that is too small is the most likely reason a button would gap. Choose your size by bust and waist using our bra size calculator and the size chart next to the size selector.

Which bra should I wear?

The fabric is opaque, so you can choose the bra that supports you best. Measure your bust while wearing the bra you plan to wear with the shirt, then use the bra size calculator in Find My Size for a starting size. Wear that same bra when you try the shirt on, since there is no stretch.

Will it show too much cleavage?

It is a collared, button-front shirt, so you control the neckline. Buttoned up, it covers you, and the precisely spaced buttons hold the front closed across the bust instead of pulling open. Because there is no stretch, the right size matters: a shirt that is too small is what opens the front.

Will it look boxy at the waist?

No. The shirt is tailored, and the extra room is in the bust, so you do not have to size up for your chest and end up with loose fabric at the waist. Side slits give fuller hips room to move. Size by both bust and waist using the size chart next to the size selector.
