The One and Only White Button-Down Shirt

A classic white shirt that finally fits a fuller bust. It is tailored with extra room through the bust, so the buttons lie flat instead of pulling or gaping.

The premium Japanese cotton is lightweight, breathable and soft, and the shirt is opaque. Details include precisely spaced buttons, a crisp collar, cuffed long sleeves, a curved hem and side slits that give fuller hips room to move.

Wear it to the office on its own or under a blazer, or with jeans on the weekend. It is 100% cotton, so it irons easily on a low to medium setting but is not wrinkle-free.

Sleeve length: 23" from the shoulder (size 8).
Our founder Kristen is 5'6" (168 cm) with a 42" bust, 34.5" waist and 45" hips (UK 32HH). She wears a size 14 in the One and Only shirts.
Model height 5'7" (170 cm), bust 37" (94 cm), waist 30.5" (77 cm), hips 43.5" (111 cm). Wearing size 10.

The One and Only White Women´s Shirt

Lovely fit

The fit was perfect for me! However, it started to pill after the second wear on the sleeves. My third wear it was even worse. I’ll use a fabric shaver to save it because I have never bought a button down I didn’t have to alter!

Great design and quality but plus sizes not available

I saw this shirt and immediately loved it; I’ve struggled with finding button downs all my life because of a large bust, and the princess seams seemed perfect. I ordered the largest size (20), noting it was awfully close to my measurements but hoping it would fit. When it arrived, it fit my arms, my bust curve (hallelujah), but isn’t big enough to close and button in the front. I am so so bummed; I thought I’d finally found something great. I highly recommend for busty people smaller than me, but us bigger people gotta look elsewhere again.

These shirts have no stretch and 20 is the largest size in this style, so I understand how disappointing that is. Will it gap at the bust?

The One and Only is cut with extra room through the bust and precisely spaced buttons, so the front lies flat instead of pulling open. The shirt has no stretch and runs small, so a size that is too small is the most likely reason a button would gap. Choose your size by bust and waist using our bra size calculator and the size chart next to the size selector.

Will my bra straps or band show, and which bra should I wear?

Your bra straps and band stay covered under the long sleeves and body of the shirt, and the white shirt is opaque, so you can choose the bra that supports you best. A bra close to your skin tone gives the smoothest look under white. Measure your bust while wearing the bra you plan to wear with the shirt, then use the bra size calculator in Find My Size for a starting size. Wear that same bra when you try the shirt on, since there is no stretch.

Will it show too much cleavage?

It is a collared, button-front shirt, so you control the neckline. Buttoned up, it covers you, and the precisely spaced buttons hold the front closed across the bust instead of pulling open. Because there is no stretch, the right size matters: a shirt that is too small is what opens the front.

Will it look boxy at the waist?

No. The shirt is tailored through the bust and waist, and the extra room is in the bust, so you do not have to size up for your chest and end up with loose fabric at the waist. Side slits give fuller hips room to move. Size by both bust and waist using the size chart next to the size selector.

What if I am between sizes?

Size by both bust and waist. If they point to different sizes, choose the larger one so the waist fits comfortably. These shirts have no stretch and run small, so if you are between sizes, go up. How do exchanges work?

Start an exchange within 30 days of receiving your order through our returns portal. Items must be unworn, unwashed and in original condition with all tags attached. We ship your replacement free, and if you bought on sale we honor the sale price for the same style and color. Sending the original back is at your cost, unless you added return shipping protection at checkout (U.S. only). Final sale items cannot be exchanged.
